Combination Definition Our combination calculator will allow you to calculate the number of combinations in a set of size n. A combination describes how many sets you can make of a certain size from a larger set. For example, if you have 5 numbers in a set (say 1,2,3,4,5) and you want to put them into a smaller set (say a set of size 2), then the combination would be the number of sets you could make without regard to order. With a combination the set [1,2] would be the same as the set [2,1]. If order does matter, then you should use a permutation.
